University and College Union Scotland strikes

The Scottish Conservatives are grateful for the lecturers and teaching staff that have worked incredibly hard over the past two years as Scotland has gone through the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is concerning that UCU member staff from 11 Scottish universities are planning a third round of strike action in March. This follows on from the ten days of strike action the month prior, and the three days of strike action in December last year.

The Scottish Conservatives do not want to see education further disrupted and urge university bosses to engage with staff and unions with a view to resolving longstanding pay and employment concerns.  Both sides need to get around the table and work together, to avoid Scotland’s students being impacted.
